Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has welcomed the start of US-mediated peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, which took place in Abu Dhabi last

week. Speaking at a press briefing in Moscow, Peskov said the fact that experts are now discussing complex issues related to a possible Ukrainian settlement should be considered progress. He described it as the beginning of a dialogue and emphasized that Moscow expects the negotiations to continue. “These are very complex negotiations that began at the expert level,” Peskov noted. “It is good that they started in the form of direct contacts, and agreements have already been reached to carry them forward.” He added that the outcome of the talks will depend on how constructive the participants are, stressing that Russia remains open to the negotiation process. Peskov declined to comment on Russia’s military losses, saying only the Defense Ministry is authorized to provide such information. The consultations, held on January 23-24 in Abu Dhabi, were described by the US administration as “constructive.” Another round of Russia-Ukraine peace talks is scheduled for Sunday. This latest development highlights ongoing efforts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine war, with the Kremlin signaling cautious optimism about the future of negotiations.
